of Ophthalmology

Medical Retina patients occupy the majority of outpatients activity in every eye unit. Most of these patients belong to the medium or low-risk group (priority level 3 or level 4). The advancing opthalmic imaging (OCT and wide-field fundus photography) could immensly assist to deliver care to this group of patients remotely through virtual or video consultations. At iSourcing Ophthalmology we have developed a pathway for delivering a high-vloume pure virtual or mix (virtual and F2F) service over weekends taking into consideration the social distancing and other measures to reduce the risk of COVID19 spread during any activity. Our aim is to keep everyone safe but simultaneously deliver an efficient medical retina service over the weekend by:

  • Providing a full-stack team of Consultant Ophthalmologists, highly-skilled nurses, experienced medical photographers and a team leader .
  • We assess with you the capacity of the reformed waiting areas at your clinic.
  • We agree with you the tests needed for these patients (visual acuity, OCT, Optos ..etc), and find the most efficient and safe way to provide this.
  • For every activity a team leader/flow coordinator will oversee the activity
  • A state-of-art IT platform will be allocated for every weekend activity to monitor the flow of patients throughout the activity.
  • We set with you a target for how long the patient should be present in clinic and provide real-time data of this through our platform.

Before COVID-19 many units were already struggling with their backlog of glaucoma outpatient reviews and it is anticipated that further delay will cause anxiety for these patients and increase their risk of irreversible vision loss. We, at iSourcing Ophthalmology share your concern and we are ready to help. We have a team of locally trained Consultant Ophthalmologists with special interest in glaucoma that could help with your waiting list. Our Glaucoma Service includes:

  • A Consultant-led care service supported by a team of highly-skilled nurses, experienced medical photographers and a team leader.

Our Process

1.Initial Consultation

First, we discuss with you to understand the size of the waiting list in the relevant sub-speciality at your unit. We will also agree on the safest and most efficient way to deliver a weekend activity. From here, we begin developing a tailored solution to tackle every issue.

Our extensively experienced management team will quickly draft a detailed plan of action, based on our consultation with you and our understanding of your specific needs.

To begin to develop a close, collaborative relationship, we’ll visit you on-site for a tour of your department and to meet your team. We’ll also gather your feedback of our plan and any final details to produce a final contract.

Following an agreed contract, we start working within your department to reduce your backlog in the MR or Glaucoma fields in as a little as two weeks. We follow your standard operating procedures and preferred ways of working.

The work doesn’t stop after our teams hit the ground running. We periodically run feedback sessions with your team and undertake detailed reporting to make sure we’re achieving what we agreed on.
